True artistic discovery begins with direct sensory experience. In our Noljak Basic Creative class at Rookids BGC, young artists embarked on a tactile and visual exploration using real mushrooms hidden inside a mystery box.
Before picking up their brushes, the children relied on touch to feel the soft, ribbed, and smooth textures of various mushroom species. Transitioning to visual observation, students studied the intricate structural details of gilled and capped forms before translating their observations onto paper. They then expanded these natural forms into imaginative landscapes—picturing enchanted forests and hidden miniature kingdoms where these organisms thrive.
At Rookids BGC, our observation-based art program empowers children to look beyond surface appearances, cultivating deep curiosity, analytical observation skills, and authentic creative expression.
