Art and nature seamlessly interconnect when authentic observation precedes visual creation. In our Noljak Basic class at Rookids BGC, young artists explored the structural anatomy and organic vitality of flowers through a sensory-rich botanical study.
Using magnifying lenses and tactile exploration, the children carefully examined the unique parts, petal arrangements, and textures of real blossoms. Building upon these botanical insights, students were introduced to Vincent van Gogh’s iconic masterpiece, Sunflowers, recreating their own vibrant versions using expressive finger painting techniques. By blending and mixing pigments directly with their hands, the children developed a intuitive understanding of color harmony, layer density, and expressive mark-making.
